FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ's):
Are
there Photo Opportunities?
Photos
can be taken with Hauntownsend characters while waiting in line.
For the safety of the Hauntownsend characters, no flash photography is allowed in any of the attractions. Additionally,
the spirits will become invisible if spooked by a camera flash or cell/video camera screen light.
When is the best time to come?
Friday and Saturday nights can be very busy and you may encounter
a waiting line depending on what time you arrive. However, our staff is very eager to terrify you
while you wait.
Are the characters scary?
We certainly hope so. But it depends. To some very brave
souls they may not be that scary -- but surprises are inevitable. To others it can be terrifying,
leading to wet pants or a shrill "get me out of here!" Also note that this is an " adult scare
event." If you or your children can't handle this, we won't be held responsible if it's "too
much." So please use your best judgement when deciding if this event is right for you and/or your children.
Will the characters touch or harm me in any way?
The actors are present for two purposes; to provide for your safety (guidance,
first-aid if needed, and exit assistance) and to provide scares for your enjoyment. The actors may be unpredictable
but are, in no way, designed to harm our patrons. Actors are not, by design, intended to touch patrons. However
we do have a few characters that are very happy to see you and may enjoy showering you with their attention (safely and under
strict guidelines, of course), especially if you try to get away from them as this only increases the "thrill of the
hunt" (um...so-to-speak). Each actor receives training on the "art of scaring" and prop usage.
They may get very close to you with their bodies and props and may interact with you in the wait lines and haunt. Instructions
are given at the beginning of your visit for signals that you can give actors to let them know they've done their jobs and
have sufficiently frightened you (which pleases us, to no end, when this happens) so don't hesitate to use them if you need
to. But please note that violence directed at/to the actors will not be tolerated and any such actions will
cause you to be removed from the premises by onsite commissioned law enforcement officers.
Are there any health concerns involved with your event(s)?
People with heart conditions and women who are pregnant may wish to reconsider
entering the haunted events. If you have a history of epilepsy, you may wish to reconsider entering the attractions as there
may be some flashing strobe-type lights used. People with asthma should be advised that there may be the use
of theatrical smoke in the attractions. Patrons that have claustrophobia or vertigo should be aware that some
areas of the haunts may have restricted access and moving walls. Due to weather conditions, the outside paths may be
slippery if damp or wet so please be aware of the people around you.
Can we be denied entry?
If
you have been drinking, are under the influence of any drugs, disruptive, or a potential safety
concern, any of our staff members can refuse entry and/or you may be removed from the attractions at any time by an onsite law
enforcement officer. We take the safety of our actors and patrons very seriously and if you are deemed to be a
possible problem for us you will be asked to leave.
Will
there be refreshments available?
We will have drinks,
food snacks, and sweets at the concession stand located at the end of the haunt building. All food sales are cash
only. No food or drink will be allowed in any of the haunt attractions.
Are you licensed?
We hold
all appropriate licenses and permits for this event.
Do
you have any discounts?
For the 2010 haunt season
we are participating in the "VIP Fright Pass" program. Please see above (under pricing) for
details. ~ Military, with valid I.D. receives a 30% discount off the regular admission
price of $10.00 (no further discounts apply). ~ Those presenting a "Loyal Haunt Fan Card,"
at the time of gate ticket purchase, will receive a discount, based on the number of people in their group (no further discounts
apply). Discounts may not be combined.
Is
Hauntownsend accessible to those with special physical needs?
Some areas of the haunted house are difficult to maneuver. Special group access may be provided for
these patrons. Please tell the Hauntownsend staff of your needs as it makes it easier for us to give you the best possible
experience.
What type of shoes and clothing should
I wear?
All the events are subject to the northwest
weather so wear clothing suitable for the outdoor environment. Also, patrons wearing inappropriate clothing for going
through the haunted events, such as high heels, will be asked to change before entering the attractions.
Does the weather affect the events?
The haunted house is an indoor event but there are times when you'll be outside, getting from the parking
lot to the haunt and, possibly, between buildings. If the weather is suspect on the night you plan to attend, please
feel free to call ahead for an update.
Can I get my
money back if I decide it's too scary?
Uhhh, no. That's what we do. We're a 'scare
attraction.' However, if you "chickened out" of the haunt experience we will give you an "I was too scared
to finish" sticker.
Do
you allow any refunds?
The only reason a refund would
be issued is if the complete attraction is closed the day your ticket was purchased for (ie: due to weather or other
unforeseeable event). Rainchecks will be issued first, giving you an opportunity to attend the events another evening
during the current haunt season. If the raincheck is not used, a refund will then be issued.
